Esta tesis doctoral, titulada “El príncipe de Viana en la Corona de Aragón (1457-1461”, aborda los últimos años de la vida del príncipe de Viana, aquéllos que se corresponden con su exilio del reino de Navarra. Durante estos años, el príncipe pasó por el reino de Nápoles, donde se encontró con su tío el rey Alfonso el Magnánimo, a quien pidió ayuda para arreglar las desavenencias con su padre, el rey de Navarra. Más tarde, pasó por la isla de Sicilia, donde estuvo un año, y logró obtener el apoyo de las instituciones de la isla. Luego, por la isla de Mallorca, donde estableció, finalmente, una concordia con su padre, Juan II, para solucionar sus enfrentamientos. Y, posteriormente, por Barcelona. En Barcelona, el príncipe fue encarcelado por su padre como consecuencia de la mala relación entre ellos. La detención del primogénito de la Corona de Aragón llevó a las instituciones catalanas, la Diputación del General y el Consejo de Ciento de Barcelona, a levantarse contra el rey, Juan II, con el fin de obtener la liberación del príncipe. La detención fue la excusa perfecta para alzarse contra el monarca. Después de convocar al ejército, el monarca claudicó y consintió la libertad del príncipe. Esto dio paso a la firma de las Capitulaciones de Villafranca del Penedés, en las que se prohibía la entrada del rey en el Principado de Cataluña y se establecía un nuevo orden jurídico y político en Cataluña. Finalmente, el príncipe obtenía su ansiado título de primogénito de los reinos de la Corona de Aragón y su lugartenencia, aunque poco tiempo pudo disfrutarlos puesto que murió inesperadamente al cabo de dos meses. En todo este panorama, no podemos olvidar el mito del príncipe de Viana y su santidad. Además de estos aspectos políticos, una biografía sobre el príncipe de Viana no está completa sin un estudio más detallado sobre sus finanzas personales, la organización de su Hostal, su vida más familiar, sus hijos y sus madres, así como los aspectos culturales y literarios.

THE PRINCE OF VIANA IN THE CROWN OF ARAGON (1457-1461) This doctoral, qualified thesis, entitled "The prince of Viana in the Crown of Aragon (1457-1461)", approaches last years of the prince of Viana life, those that correspond with his exile of the kingdom of Navarre. During these years, the prince passed for the kingdom of Naples, where he met his uncle the king Alfonso the Magnanimous, whom he asked for help to arrange the disagreements with his father, the king of Navarre. Later, he passed for the island of Sicily, where he spent one year, and managed to obtain the support of the island institutions. Then, for the island of Majorca, where he finally established a concord with his father, John II, to solve their clashes. And, finally, for Barcelona. In Barcelona, the prince was imprisoned by his father as a consequence of their bad relationship. The detention of the first-born one of the Crown of Aragon led to the Catalan institutions, the General and the municipal Council of Barcelona, to rose up against the king, John II, in order to obtain the liberation of the prince. The detention was the perfect excuse to rise up against the monarch. After summoning the army, the monarch gave in and he consented the freedom of the prince. This gave step to the signature of the Capitulations of Villafranca del Penedés, in which the entry of the king in the Principality of Catalonia was prohibited and a new juridical and political order in Catalonia were established. In all this panorama, we cannot forget the myth of the prince of Viana and his holiness. Besides these political aspects, the prince of Viana biography is not complete without a more detailed study on his personal finances, the organization of his Hostel, his family life, his children and his mothers, as well as the other cultural aspects.
