El Departament d’Òptica i Optometria té assignat tot un edifici pels equipaments de recerca: laboratoris dedicats al Processament d’Imatges i Colorimetria, Anatomia, i Histologia, Microscòpia òptica, Microbiologia, Optometria, Lents de Contacte, i Neurofisiologia Visual; i el Centre Universitari de la Visió. La recerca que es porta a terme inclou transferència de tecnologia al sector i cobreix diferents camps: enginyeria òptica, imatge, visió i color, optometria clínica i contactologia, i microbiologia aplicada.
