Del turismo accesible al museo inclusivo: un modelo para la evaluación de la accesibilidad universal en los museos. El caso del cosmocaixa en Barcelona

Abstract

Esta tesis presenta un análisis sobre el rol del turismo accesible en el ámbito de los museos. Para tal propósito se ha desarrollado un Manual de Evaluación de la Accesibilidad universal en los museos, a partir del análisis de otros manuales existentes a nivel nacional e internacional que evidenciaron ciertas carencias de información indispensable. El caso de estudio en el CosmoCaixa de Barcelona ha permitido validar la fiabilidad del Manual y comprobar la hipótesis principal de la investigación por la que, afirmamos que, a mayor accesibilidad en los museos, tanto en el espacio como a su contenido, mayor es la tipología de públicos que acceden a la cultura. La aplicación del Manual en el museo ofrece a sus responsables la posibilidad de conocer el grado de accesibilidad física y de accesibilidad al contenido, con la finalidad de poner en valor aquellos aspectos positivos y mejorar los negativos. A la vez que le garantiza la posibilidad de comunicar su accesibilidad a todos sus usuarios de una manera certera y objetiva. La tesis se ha dividido en seis capítulos. El primer capítulo presenta la introducción, las hipótesis y los objetivos de la investigación. El segundo aborda el turismo accesible, analizando de manera independiente el fenómeno turístico a nivel espacial y temporal, por una parte, y los conceptos de accesibilidad y discapacidad por la otra. En el tercer capítulo se analiza el turismo cultural, su relación con la sostenibilidad social y el papel que esta desarrolla en el museo inclusivo. El cuarto capítulo describe la metodología de la investigación, que se ha basado en el desarrollo del nuevo Manual de a partir de la aplicación de la Metodología Fundamentada. Una vez diseñado el Manual y con el fin de contrastar los resultados, se ha utilizado la Metodología de Triangulación a partir de tres técnicas complementarias: la entrevista en profundidad, la encuesta y la documentación fotográfica. El quinto capítulo presenta el caso de estudio en el CosmoCaixa y el último define las conclusiones, las limitaciones del estudio y las futuras líneas de investigación. El trabajo evidencia la necesidad de los museos de conocer el estado de la accesibilidad en sus instituciones con la vista puesta en una evolución necesaria hacia un museo inclusivo y participativo, pensado por y para todas las personas.

This thesis presents an analysis on the role of accessible tourism in the field of museums. For this purpose, a Manual for the Evaluation of Universal Accessibility in Museums has been developed, based on the analysis of other existing manuals at the national and international level, which revealed certain deficiencies of indispensable information. The case study in the CosmoCaixa Barcelona has validated the reliability of the Manual and verified the main hypothesis of the research by which, we affirm that, the greater accessibility in museums, both in space and content, the greater the typology of audiences that access culture. The application of the Manual in the museum offers its managers the possibility of knowing the degree of physical accessibility and accessibility to the content, in order to put in value those positive aspects and improve the negative ones. At the same time it guarantees the possibility of communicating its accessibility to all its users in an accurate and objective manner. The thesis has been divided into six chapters. The first chapter presents the introduction, the hypothesis and the objectives of the investigation. The second deals with accessible tourism, independently analysing the tourist phenomenon at a spatial and temporal level, on the one hand, and the concepts of accessibility and disability on the other. In the third chapter, cultural tourism is analysed, its relationship with social sustainability and the role it plays in the inclusive museum. The fourth chapter describes the methodology of the research, which has been based on the development of the new Manual based on the application of the Grounded Methodology. Once the Manual has been designed and in order to contrast the results, the Triangulation Methodology has been used from three complementary techniques: the in-depth interview, the survey and the photographic documentation. The fifth chapter presents the case study in the CosmoCaixa and the last one defines the conclusions, the limitations of the study and the future lines of research. The work demonstrates the need for museums to know the state of accessibility in their institutions with a view to a necessary evolution towards an inclusive and participative museum, thought by and for all people.
