Militancia, vida y revolución en los años 70: la experiencia de la Organización de Izquierda Comunista (OIC)

Abstract

La presente tesis doctoral estudia la historia de la Organización de Izquierda Comunista (OIC). Esta organización, que existió entre 1974 y 1979, se situaba en el campo de la izquierda revolucionaria, y concretamente en el espacio de la izquierda comunista. Surgida en 1971 con el nombre de Círculos Obreros Comunistas (COC) a partir del movimiento obrero de base radical de Barcelona y el Vallès y de un grupo de militantes procedentes del Front Obrer de Catalunya (FOC), fue desarrollando gradualmente un doctrina política que permitiera sustentar y expandir la organización. El utillaje ideológico que usó para ese propósito fue una mezcla particular de consejismo, leninismo y marxismo heterodoxo. Se trató de una organización hasta cierto punto original, surgida al calor de la lucha obrera, distante de las grandes corrientes ideológicas del momento -el maoísmo, el marxismo-leninismo, el trotsquismo- y que trató de desarrollar su propia teoría política. La organización tuvo un notable crecimiento, se fue extendiendo por distintas zona del estado y fue capaz de liderar algunos conflictos obreros de alta intensidad del año 1976, por ejemplo con una influencia destacada en el movimiento huelguístico de Vitoria. En el enfoque seguido se ha procurado inserir la organización en el contexto internacional de radicalización y auge del imaginario revolucionario, también en el contexto que marcaba la dictadura franquista. Asimismo se ha ubicado esta organización dentro del espacio de la izquierda revolucionaria y del campo radical, haciendo comparaciones en algunas cuestiones con otras organizaciones. En esta tesis está presente la construcción de la organización, desde sus orígenes en grupos políticos precedentes -que podemos ubicar en la crisis del FOC entre 1967 y 69-, su formación como COC en 1971, su establecimiento como OICE en 1974, su crecimiento importante hasta 1977, su crisis a partir de mediados de ese año y su fusión con el Movimiento Comunista en 1979. En este aspecto se han buscado los mecanismos del crecimiento en militantes y de la extensión territorial de la organización y también de su crisis interna entre 1977 y 1979. En la historia de la organización se ha prestado atención, asimismo, a cómo se gestó el marco ideológico y doctrinal de la organización y a cómo se produjo su evolución política a lo largo de los años. Para ver la influencia social de la organización, se ha analizado su relación con los movimientos sociales, especialmente su trabajo en el movimiento obrero. Finalmente, otro elemento que se ha incluido en el enfoque, es la experiencia de militancia de las personas que formaron parte de la organización, para así poder entender en mayor medida la globalidad de la OIC, más allá de sus ideas y de su marco organizativo, y acercarnos a las particularidades de lo que era la militancia revolucionaria frente a la dictadura franquista. Para ello se ha realizado un extenso trabajo en fuentes orales, que se suma a la consulta de la documentación y prensa de la organización.

This dissertation studies the history of the Organization of the Communist Left (OIC). The organization, which existed between 1974 and 1979, was located in the field of the revolutionary left, and specifically in the space of the communist left. Born in 1971 with the name of the Communist Workers Circles (COC) from the radical workers' movement of Barcelona and the Vallès zone and a group of militants from the FOC, it gradually developed a political doctrine in order to support and expand the organization. The ideological tool that the OIC used for this purpose was a particular blend of councilism, Leninism, and heterodox Marxism. It was a somewhat original organization, emerged in the heat of the workers' struggle, distant from the great ideological currents of the moment -Maoism, Marxism-Leninism, Trotskyism- and which attempted to develop its own political theory. The organization had a remarkable growth and spread throughout different areas of the state. Also it was able to lead some high-intensity labor conflicts of 1976, for example with a prominent influence in the strikes of Vitoria. The approach followed has tried to insert the organization in the international context of radicalization and rise of the revolutionary imaginary, also in the context of the Franco dictatorship. It has also placed this organization within the space of the revolutionary left and the radical field, making comparisons on some issues with other organizations. This thesis presents the construction of the organization, from its origins in previous political groups -that we can locate in the crisis of the Front Obrer de Catalunya (FOC)- between 1967 and 69, its formation as COC in 1971, its establishment as OICE in 1974, its important growth until 1977, its crisis from mid-year and its merger with the Communist Movement (MC) in 1979. In this aspect it has been studied the mechanisms of growth in militants and the territorial extension of the organization and also its internal crisis between 1977 and 1979. The history of the organization has also paid attention to understand the ideological and doctrinal framework of the organization and how its political evolution took place over the years. It has analyzed its relationship with social movements in order to see the social influence of the organization, especially their work in the labor movement. Finally, another element that has been included in the approach is the experience of militancy of the people who were part of the organization, so as to be able to better understand the globality of the OIC, beyond its ideas and its organizational framework, and approach the particularities of how was the revolutionary militancy in front of the Franco dictatorship. For this research it has been done an extensive work on oral sources, which is added to the consultation of the documentation and press of the organization.
