Abstract

The overall objective of this thesis is twofold. It aims on the one hand, * Identify factors influencing the introduction of educational innovations in teaching chemistry in secondary education, particularly in a variable credit, from contextualized activities and related environmental issues. On the other hand, * Assess whether the teaching of chemistry, from the analysis of environmental problems, promotes the acquisition of responsible attitudes towards the environment as well as significant learning of concepts and procedures in this area and identify knowledge some factors that can influence. The first chapter of the thesis introduces some reflections on the evolution of teaching chemistry in secondary education with environmental education. The second chapter discusses the evolution of environmental education in secondary education, as well as ideas about the concept and evolution into the school. The third chapter is devoted to introducing the methodology used to conduct the study. Are commented practical action research uses spiral of steps. The fourth chapter analyses developments in relation to the objectives of the different teaching units designed. The results obtained by each student are discussed and evaluated in the fifth chapter, which also discusses his relationship with the objectives of the thesis. The last chapter (sixth) includes the findings of the research conducted related to their two goals. The findings can be summarized as follows: Regarding the first objective, the factors that condition and explain the changes and developments are: * Being involved in a process of action research or constant reflection on teaching practice. * Learn new theoretical continuously. * Design activities that involve thinking, not repetitive and not mechanistic. * Engage in collective groups seeking innovation, both in the high school and off of it. Regarding the second objective is of interest to highlight the conclusions that can be drawn from the results obtained. * The environmental problems context facilitates learning chemical contents. * Promoting the ability to argue ideas and actions from the knowledge worked on in class can explain the improved performance. * The conviction by those who taught that all students can learn.
